I construct my sculptures by using discarded materials to create character driven fish. This fish is a graceful teetotaler!

Sesame Street, Little Muppet Monsters, The Muppet Meeting films, and assorted Muppet specials. Jim created mechanisms for The Jim Henson Company, effects for features such as Little Monsters and Woody Allen’s Alice, and rebuilt many of the mechanisms/characters for Disney’s Muppets. With his company, 3/Design Inc., Jim performed many characters, including Batly on Eureeka’s Castle.Retiring from puppetry in 2024, he has turned his attention to creating whimsical art, “Repurfish”, fish sculptures made from domestic objects revealing multiple layers of wit and personality. Jim is currently working on a new series of Repurfish sculptures with a deep sea theme.

Statement:

My work is an collage of sculptural fabrication, mechanical engineering and theatrical narrative. And also, when I look at it, it makes me smile!
