Ms. Pagano

Oil

8 3/7 x 7 inches

More Info:

Ms. Pagano, the familiar becomes quietly unsettling. Figures emerge from a dark, atmospheric interior while a pale vertical form divides and distorts the space. The composition feels slightly misaligned, as though the scene belongs to a memory that cannot be completely reconstructed.

Bio:

Artist: Chris IngramI am an artist working primarily in oil on linen and wood panels, often beginning with a limited palette to distill mood and atmosphere. I also create drawings and have maintained a lifelong artistic practice, making art since early childhood. With a renewed focus on painting, I continue to develop a practice grounded in careful observation and emotional resonance. My work moves between impressionism and realism, encompassing figurative subjects, cityscapes, and landscapes. Throughout, themes of isolation, loneliness, and exile quietly surface.Whether working in the studio or occasionally painting en plein air, I seek a deeper connection to nature and the human condition. Through an intimate and introspective approach, I aim to create works that invite contemplation and evoke a sense of place, memory, and emotion.Website: www.chrisingramarts.com Email: cingram@thezerokey.com Mobile: 917-545-0277 Website: www.chrisingramarts.com

Statement:

These three paintings explore the space between the familiar and the uncanny, where figures seem to emerge from darkness, memory, and the natural world. I am interested in moments when perception becomes uncertain when a face, a gesture, or a landscape feels recognizable yet somehow displaced. Across these works, I use expressive brushwork, obscured edges, and layered passages of dark and warm color to create ambiguity. I am drawn to the moment when a painting stops explaining itself and begins to suggest something hidden. For me, the nocturne is not simply about night it is about entering a psychological darkness where ordinary forms become mysterious, unstable, and beautifully catawampus.
