Artist Bio
Philip is a life long New York State resident who developed a passion for art making at a young age. He studied art at Fairleigh Dickinson University before receiving a BFA from Marist College. He has a Masters in Art Teaching from The School of Visual Arts with 15 years of teaching experience working in both New York City and the Hudson Valley. Philip has a studio in Hudson, NY which he also uses as a venue for group art exhibits.

Curator’s Note: I’m always thrilled to offer Philip Gebhardt’s work at Arbor Gallery. His artwork features a raw emotive quality but the intentionality of adding and removing paint, leaving texture and peeks of color from layers creates depth among the marks. Do Over is abstract and full of expression created within the moment. Tattered Memory is currently on view without stretching, my personal preference with many of Gebhardt’s artwork as the stray paint marks near the canvas edges adds to the mood of the overall piece. If interested, I’d be happy to help advise on displaying options to maintain that overall character, giving the effect that is was created in the space it shares.
