At 19 years of age, I underwent a thoracotomy to repair an issue with my lungs. It was a time of big changes and acceptance. The scarring was not something I was very accepting of at the time, along with the difficulty and pain of breathing, and it shifted my life greatly. I'm no longer self-conscious of my scars, and the unexpected changes to my body and path in life have made me who I am today. Hydrangeas symbolize change hence the ombre of color and the dried petals are the shedding of what is no longer of use. This photo transfer has a shift in toner shade from black to blue in various areas. The scars are lined in metallic ink to signify the repairing into something better.
