Artist Statement
“It’s Okay to Wobble” is a show made up of mostly new work from 2023 and 2024 and is a continuation of a decade or so of explorations in a weird wiggly world. With a playful spirit these works all attempt to freeze a moment of movement. By employing a main character, usually a ball, the artist guides the viewer through each piece in some kind of cartoon narrative. Maybe there’s a joke with a wink or some kind of strange corresponding sound in there somewhere. Beneath the color and the play there is an acknowledgement of the anxiety and instability of existence. The day to day slops and flops. Being able to flow with the ups and downs - to become the wobble - perhaps gives balance to imbalance and a glowing sense of peace lights a loopy path.
