Jen Decker

I am a mixed media artist who shares my time between
the Hudson Valley, NY and Cape Cod, MA. Throughout my artistic process, I am deeply connected to the paints and surfaces that allow me to create art that is unique and beautiful. My work continues to evolve from my passion to paint abstract organic designs while watching the colors on the paper blend into unexpected beauty. While observing my art, allow yourself to be lost for a moment within that space. The writer and poet Thomas Merton stated:
“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.”
Jen’s hope is to share this transformative experience with you, if only for a moment in time.

Jose Marti

My interest in art began in the early 1970s growing up in Brooklyn, New York. The emergence of graffiti art fascinated me and began my journey into learning about painting and
drawing. I use many different mediums, such as Spray Paint, Acrylics, Airbrush, Charcoal, Graphite and whatever I can get my hands on. Working in mixed media gives more freedom to create custom
art. Being an instructor of martial arts gives me great inspiration for my art. I love Japanese art, so some of my work reflects that. The greatest inspiration of my work comes from Graffiti art and nature.

Karen Maloof

Karen graduated from Syracuse University in 1977 with a B.S. in Social Work. While there, she learned black and white photographic skills at the Community Darkroom. Her love of photography continued when she
moved to NYC. After her day job as a paralegal, she interned at Photographics Unlimited, a b&w darkroom and studio facility.
Becoming enthralled in alternate b&w photographic processes, her photographic work in the 80’s and 90’s, “Karen Maloof Painted
Photography”, incorporated b&w printing techniques, transparent oils and color pencils to create limited editions of painted
photographs. Due to the tranquil nature of the imagery, her work was published internationally by several poster and greeting
card companies and placed in many corporate, hospital and private collections.
In the late 1990's, Karen and her husband left New York City to raise a family in New Jersey. She has since been painting without using a photograph as her canvas.

Phyllis Chadwick

My art consists of looking at life and finding new ways to portray it. I love experimentation, and considering the use of different mediums and supports that don't normally go
together and saying, "Why not"? I do this with most of my artwork, which includes photography, painting, sculpture, and everything in between. The subjects that inspire me come from all areas of the life I encounter. I love to share my work and hope that what I create inspires people to see things in a new way.

About fifteen years ago, an artist friend in Maine encouraged her to resume art lessons again. She signed up with Jeanne DeMotses from the Putnam Arts Council in Mahopac, and credits her with learning the fundamentals of art and design. After a few years, she transferred to Arts on the Lake to study with the renowned artist, Alexander Shundi. He encouraged her to rely on her imagination, in lieu of photographs, to draw and to paint. He also believes she should experiment with abstract designs.

Karen Schaffel

Her study of printmaking and etching inspired her to incorporate textures into her artwork using fabric, lace, modeling paste, and paper. She moved from Brooklyn, NY to the Hudson Valley region. The acrylic paint and mixed material techniques were developed through solo experimentation and play. Since 2016, Karen has been working directly on cradled wood panels with painted sides. The element of discovery and surprise captivates the artist as well as the viewer. Solo shows include the Wired Gallery High Falls, , Midoma Gallery,NYC; and Starr Library, Rhinebeck.

As I work, the movement of fibers and the interplay of light and texture enhance the theme of connection. Each ripple and layer symbolizes a bond between individuals and nature.

His artistic style serves as a visual manifestation of the innermost sparks of his spirit, capturing an unwavering commitment to absolute independence and expressing his innate emotions through the language of bold color, cubism, and geometric abstraction. Coming from a creative family, he nurtured a lifelong passion for the arts. Geometric abstraction lets him channel his love for color and shift from art as a hobby to his vocation, aiming to foster connection and communication. His pieces fuse vivid colors, bold lines, and angular shapes, resulting in luminous and energetic narratives.
